In 2017, Tim was hit by a drunk driver while he was parked on the side of the highway. He fractured eleven bones, had multiple seizures and was rushed to the hospital where he underwent brain surgery due to all the intracranial hypertension. This put Tim in a coma for eight days. Once he came back to life, Tim was diagnosed with an emergent mood disorder, PTSD and was struggling with pain medication.
Tim had been influencing his autonomic nervous system for years prior to the accident (voluntarily generated piloerection). When he found the Wim Hof Method, it was the first time he had ever found scientific evidence for influencing the autonomic nervous system on a large scale. He immediately researched, began to practice, and jump started his rehabilitation process. Within weeks of practicing the method, he kicked the pain pills, balanced out his mood, and significantly reduced symptoms of the PTSD. After experiencing such great benefits for himself, Tim traveled to Poland, earned his certification, and now shares the method with others in hopes to help them in similar ways.
Tim is married to his wife Samantha and together they have two daughters, Adeline and Raegan. He works as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the schools as well as runs his own private practice. When he is not counseling, Tim works as a Peak-Performance Coach providing Wim Hof Method services to adults. Tim offers workshops, classes and courses to sports teams, businesses, first responders and the general public at large. Tim has a Masters degree in Counseling from the University of Detroit Mercy and a Bachelors degree in Outdoor Recreation & Leadership Management from Northern Michigan University. He loves to spend time outdoors, especially with his family.
Tim has worked with professional athletes and collegiate level sports teams, mental health clinics and rehabilitation centers. He co-authored a research paper (and trained the individuals involved) regarding the Wim Hof Method and its effect upon mood and anxiety disorders. Tim is passionate and incredibly knowledgeable in not only the Wim Hof Method, but mental health, recovery, trauma and rehabilitation at large. It is Tim's personal mission to share the Wim Hof Method with as many people as possible in order to provide low-cost and accessible resources to optimize health and performance.
