Russell truly lived the work hard play hard lifestyle while in a combination of corporate and entrepreneurial roles. Stress and unhealthy coping mechanisms were a part of daily life in as he tried to avoid burnout.

 

Always looking for a competitive edge Russell stumbled upon the Wim Hof Method after hearing Wim speak so passionately on a podcast about returning to a more natural way of life and how you can become happier, healthier and stronger. Wim explained the 3 pillars, and this pulled together all aspects of his life he was searching for answers.

 

Russell found the method worked so well for him it led him down the path to becoming an instructor. Russell transformed his life by truly by improving focus and getting stress under control in a natural way and in doing so unexpectedly cured his Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

 

I have long loved this quote from the film Coach Carter but only recently do i really understand it's true power. 

 

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us… You playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
