After more than 20 years in corporate environments and holding multiple senior positions Russell truly lived the work hard play hard lifestyle. Stress and unhealthy coping mechanisms were a part of daily life to try to avoid burnout. However, outside of the corporate lifestyle, Russell has long had an affinity with nature and trying and with a focus on mental health. 

 

As an Eco-therapist and mental health ambassador Russell stumbled upon the Wim Hof Method after hearing Wim speak so passionately on a podcast about returning to a more natural way of life and finding a happier, healthier and stronger life by embracing nature. Wim explained the 3 pillars, and this pulled together all aspects of his life he was searching for answers in.

 

Despite some initial scepticism, Russell found the method worked so well for him it led him down the path to becoming an instructor. Russell transformed his life by adopting a growth mindset and, in the process, also unexpectedly cured his Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

 

I have long loved this quote from the film Coach Carter but only recently do i really understand it's true power. 

 

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us… You playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
