What I love most about the Wim Hof Method, is that it helps us to get stronger inside, and softer outside. The cold simulates stressful situations, that we encounter in our daily lives. In the cold water, we literally feel, that if we fight against what we perceive as stressful, we suffer. Both physically and mentally.
In my earlier life, I had fought a lot. I had learned and was persuaded, that to stand up and fight (for what was right in my eyes) was honorable and important. And I competed, against others, against myself. At work and in sports. Nothing terrible ever happened to me, but I never was fully happy and self-satisfied.
It was through mindfulness methods and through freediving, that I learned that a more joyful way of living was possible. I experienced that it isn't in the first place effort and action that make me successful and better performing, but a strong mind with clear thoughts. I learned to question and challenge my stressful thoughts and fears. My mind relaxed and my thoughts got clearer. It is this presence that helps me act more effectively, to be more empathic and enjoy life more.
I got to know the Wim Hof Method as a tool to stay physically healthy. It held its promise and I haven't had the flu, since I started to practice it in 2016. But I discovered that it is much more than just an immune system booster: it is also one of the simplest tools to challenge stressful thoughts and fear in order to stay present and focused.
This is why it is a great pleasure for me to pass on, what I have experienced to be so beneficial for myself. And the Wim Hof Method has brought me together with the most wonderful persons. And maybe you will be one of them!?
