I am a 46 year old father of 3 children. An English man born and raised in London, at the age of 31 I decided to leave my life in England and planned a new start with my wife and young family in France.

At the time the decision was based on finance and lifestyle. My wife was working a 6pm to midnight job 4 nights a week and I had a 7am to 4pm day job. We were very tired ships that passed in the night doing single parent shifts with 3 children under 4 years old and just making enough to cover the bills.

It was the beginning of a very big learning curve and personal growth spurt that was born of neccesity. Outside of the comfort zone you have to adapt. Being a martial artist and huge Bruce Lee fan this was not a new concept to me and I had employed it in several aspects of my life to extend myself particularly in the fitness and sporting areas of my life. This though was my whole life, our whole lives.

I started working as a general builder and my wife started to build what is now our fitness business. During this time my wife and I continued in our education as Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers. It was exciting and scary at the same time, learning the language, meeting new people, always looking for work, learning a lot of the jobs as I was doing them and renovating and living in the family home. It was hectic but with the sense of freedom and autonomy it gave us and the beautiful countryside with a mountainous backdrop as our daily environment we built a life.

As a London boy I'd never really spent a prelonged amount of time in the countryside, or even out of the city. Living in an expanse of nature with a much smaller human population than the average city, let alone London, has an amazing calming effect on a human being and what millions of people before me and equal millions after me will and have experienced is now measued by science. Being in nature is health promoting. It opened me up in ways I would have said impossible the day I left England.

I became fascinated with the idea of interconnectedness and natures life cycle. I also became interested in things like nlp, Psych-K Kinesiology, fasting for health, nutrition and meditation. I also investigated the science of Epigenetics and alternative therapies such as Gerson Therapy.

Then 4 years ago whilst still working as a builder I suffered a back injury, herniated disc L4L5. As a keen martial artist and avid footballer injuries were not a new experience for me and I was well accustomed to ice locally as an effective antiflammation and pain killing tool and I would use ice and generally push through. After a month of daily and constant pain ranging from a 5 all the way to 10, 10 being the top of the scale rated by a seering electrical acute pain that renders the body limp for several seconds, I realised there was no pushing through this one. I also realised that everything I currently knew was not sufficient to help myself recover. I reduced my workload and began juicing regularly and fasting, I went to see 3 different physios over the course of the next 3 months. Each of them were very good and helped me achieve temporary relief, the disc would go back in and then when I least expected it the little bugger would pop out again always resulting in a flash 10 internal electric shock and setting the road to recovery back.

Again neccesity forced me to go learning this time I discovered fascial and connective tissue manipulation, the psychology of pain and the neurology of pain and this helped ease my constantly spasmed lower back, during this time I'd also started barefoot walking this too would offer relief as well as as hanging from things to allow the body to lengthen. Then I recieved a telephone call from my very good friend and former Kung Fu instructor, he asked me if I'd seen this guy Wim Hof? I hadn't at the time and I think Mo's (my friend) exact words were "He's crazy, you'll love him, check it out."

I checked it out extensively but I knew I was going to do it the first time I saw him. Mo knows me and I already believed that the body heals itself given the required environment. Wim showed me how to create that environment. I did it regularly, I did it regularly because it was healing my back fast. All syptoms reduced by about 80% in the first week. I then bought the 10 week program and found that not only was my back better but now my body would heal much faster than before. Concentration levels, energy and happyness all improved too.

Then somebody who'd seen me in the lake regularly asked me to help them and I did and then another and another at which point I decided I have to become qualified to bring this wonderful tool to a far bigger audience.

In doing so I learned a great deal of applicable tools to animate workshops the power of connection was imprinted on my group of trainee instructors during that program and that adventure took my understanding, my passionĀ  and my experience of the Wim Hof Method to another level completely.
